Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have conducted about more than 200 sea patrols in Shortland Islands and part of Choiseul Province in just two weeks from 14-28 November 2019.

The sea patrols covered the Solomon Islands side of the common border with Papua New Guinea to closely monitor all movements on any boat in the Area of Operation (AO).

Tactical Commander, Police Forward Command Post (PFCP), Kulitanai Inspector Kerry Sireheti says, “The sea patrols are part of the police presence along the common border between Solomon Islands  and Papua New Guinea  to make sure our citizens are well protected ensuring law and order is maintained.”

“As part of the sea visibility patrols we intercepted a tourist boat and checked their travel documents. All documents provided are well checked and we released them to their next destination.”

Inspector Sireheti adds: “Security of our people is very important that is why we must make sure all movements in the AO must be well checked. Safety of our people is very important and we must know that we are a sovereign nation and we must protect us at all times.”

“I call up on leaders in the Shortland Islands to work together with police. Police are your partner in preventing crime from your communities. Feel free to share information with police about anything might threaten our people,” says PFCP Commander Sireheti.
